Penei Sewell’s Oregon highlights: Check out Detroit Lions’ 1st-round pick in 2021 NFL draft

The first selection of the new Detroit Lions era has been made.

With the seventh overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft, the Lions took Penei Sewell, an offensive tackle from Oregon. He’s very young at 20 years old.

He opted out of the 2020 season.

Below are highlights of his career with the Ducks, when he won the Outland Trophy in 2019 as college football’s best interior lineman.

JEFF SEIDEL: Lions’ Penei Sewell pick an example of outdated thinking in team-building

The Lions entered with six picks over the three days of the draft. Friday night during Day 2, the Lions hold a second-round pick at No. 41 overall and two picks in the third round at No. 72 and No. 101 (from Rams).

On Saturday, they have fourth- and fifth-round picks.
