Pedro Pascal has broken the internet with his good looks and dad energy once again! The actor, currently starring in HBO’s The Last of Us, appeared in a few promotional videos for his upcoming turn as host in Saturday Night Live.
The videos tease a rivalry between Pascal and the infected antagonist in his apocalyptic series. The first opens with the actor standing on the infamous stage, saying, “Little Pedro Pascal from Santiago, Chile, hosting Saturday Night Live.”
His sentimental moment is cut short when an infected creature from his series – called a Clicker – makes eerie noises from the corner of the studio. “Pedro Pascal is here and he’s not alone,” teased SNL‘s caption on the video.
In the bit, Pedro looks confused and asks, “Hello? Hello? Lorne?” as he walks around the seemingly-empty studio with a flashlight. As the noises get louder, he brandishes a weapon and charges at the creature.
The actor is stopped by cast members Sarah Sherman and Molly Kearney.
“What are you doing, you psycho?” exclaims Sherman, explaining that the Clicker is a new cast member named Matt. Kearney, who uses they/them pronouns, says, “Not cool, Mr. Pascal” and indicates that they will keeping an eye on him.
But, it seems like the beef has already been squashed as in a new clip, which was shared on SNL’s Instagram, the actor is seen twerking with the creature to “Big Energy” by Latto. This clip has ignited Twitter and Instagram to gush over the television star, with one popular comment stating, “Daddy is a state of mind.”
Sharing the video on Twitter, one fan wrote, “Pedro Pascal twerking with a clicker for SNL on live television was definitely not in my lifetime bingo card.” Another added, “Clicker putting the ‘fun’ in fungus.”
A third observed, “I’m going insane like first the video where he tries to kill them and now they are dancing together.”
But you may be wondering, why is Pascal daddy? Well, in addition to his role in The Last of Us, which follows an adoptive father/found father trope, the actor has been praised for his dad-like behavior in Disney+’s The Mandalorian, where he plays a bounty hunter traveling with a pint-sized Yoda.
Those heartwarming roles combined with his good lucks and fun energy has led the internet to collectively dub him as their favorite daddy – a title which he wears in honor, according to this viral clip of him saying he’s a “cool, slutty daddy.”
Pascal’s episode of Saturday Night Live airs Feb. 4 on NBC and will stream next day on Peacock. Coldplay will join him as the musical guest.
