Pedro Pascal Has High Praise For These Two ‘The Mandalorian’ Costars

Actor Pedro Pascal has high praise for two costars from his “Star Wars” series “The Mandalorian.”

The “Game of Thrones” alum plays the titular Mandalorian, known as Din Djarin. However, he’s not the only one who wears the iconic beskar bounty hunter armor. The grandson of acting legend John Wayne, Brandan Wayne, and Lateef Crowder, have also filmed scenes beneath the armor, especially Din Djarin’s fight scenes.

Din Djarin has taken on a fatherly role towards Grogu, also known as Baby Yoda or the Child. Earlier this year, when Pascal was introducing the Mandalorian panel at Star Wars Celebration, Pascal actually welcomed Wayne and Crowder to the stage, introducing them to the audience as Grogu’s “other two daddies.”

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly on their Star Wars podcast Dagobah Dispatch, Pascal opened up on what it’s like to share Din Djarin’s armor.

Although their faces are not shown on screen, Pedro Pascal has nothing but love and respect for the two men who help bring the character of Din Djarin to life.

“It’s been a collaborative process from the beginning,” Pascal told EW. “I was given the opportunity to establish physical specificity in some ways at the start of the show, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t observing and picking up from what they’re doing and handing over so much of it as well. They do the heavy lifting.”

Believe it or not, Pascal admitted that he has actually known Crowder for years. The two previously worked together on films like “Kingsman: The Golden Circle” and “Triple Frontier.” Pascal said, “When I knew he was going to be putting on the suit for this, I was like, ‘Yes! I’m gonna look so cool!’”

Although there was a sneak peek of what fans can expect from “The Mandalorian” season 3 shown to the live audience at Star Wars Celebration, that video footage has yet to be released online. All fans know is that season 3 won’t premiere until February 2023 and that Katee Sackhoff will reprise her role as Bo-Katan Kryze.

Although Din Djarin and Grogu parted ways at the end of season 2 so that Grogu could begin his Force training, the two were reunited in the finale of “The Mandalorian” spin-off series, “The Book of Boba Fett.” Although it’s been about three years since “The Mandalorian” first appeared on the fledgling Disney+ streaming service, Pedro Pascal admitted that he is still overwhelmed by the number of love fans have for the show.

“I think it was so easy to trust how much Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni love Star Wars and [how they’re] taking that love and developing new ways of telling Star Wars stories,” Pascal said.

“That’s a big safety net. But there were things, like, will this character be compelling?” he continued. “Will people want to follow him through these adventures? Will the richness of this parent-child relationship really reach everyone? So to see all of that surpass expectation is really exciting.”

As The Blast previously reported, “The Bubble” star has been tapped to lead CNN’s new nature docuseries, called “Patagonia: Life on the Edge of the World.” The series premiered last month on Sunday, July 10.

The 47-year-old actor narrated the six-part docuseries, which has been compared to the popular nature series “Planet Earth.” The series explored the Patagonia region of South America, including Chile and Argentina. Pascal, who was born in Chile, seemed like a natural fit to voice the series.

The series was reportedly filmed over the span of one year and featured many of the beautiful landscapes and exotic animals that the location is known for. It also focused on the scientists who studied its ecosystem and gave insight into the people who inhabit the region.

“I have great memories of taking trips to Patagonia and exploring some of the beautiful places depicted in the series,” Pascal said in a statement.  “I am excited to bring my voice to the project and share this special part of the world with North American audiences.”
