The reliably fantastic Pedro Pascal has reportedly signed on to portray Mr. Fantastic in next year’s Fantastic Four movie.
According to /Film, sources close to Pascal and the project have confirmed that he’ll be suiting up as Reed Richards in the upcoming Marvel film, which is currently scheduled for release on November 8th, 2024. It’ll mark the Fantastic Four’s first official entry into the current MCU, after the rights were handed over from Fox. As of now, there’s no word on who will join Pascal for the roles of Sue Storm (The Invisible Woman), Johnny Storm (The Human Torch), and Ben Grimm (The Thing).
Adam Driver, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Matt Smith were all reportedly considered to be the next Mr. Fantastic, who’s previously been portrayed by the likes of Ioan Gruffudd and Miles Teller. John Krasinski was also rumored to reprise the role after making a cameo in Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness.
Elsewhere in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, director Destin Daniel Cretton has reportedly stepped away from Avengers: Kang Dynasty to focus on Wonder Man and his Marvel series and the sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which he helmed. The planned release of Avengers: Kang Dynasty was recently pushed back a year to 2026.
