Paul Rudd finally knows about the greatness that is Orange Cassidy.
Over the years, wrestling fans have come to learn that Orange Cassidy’s character is based on Paul Rudd’s character Andy from the 2001 film Wet Hot American Summer. While that might be common knowledge to some wrestling fans, Paul Rudd had no idea… until now.
Esquire Middle East’s William Mullally recently spoke with Rudd during his press tour for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and he made Rudd aware of the connection.
AEW referee Bryce Remsburg, a longtime friend and Chikara cohort of Orange Cassidy, commented on the reveal, posting the following:
“This is everything. Our jobs here are all done,” Remsburg wrote.
Cassidy also commented, simply writing “whatever” in response.
Orange Cassidy competed in the opening match on Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite, teaming with The Acclaimed and Billy Gunn in a victory over Jay Lethal, Jeff Jarrett, Satnam Singh and Sonjay Dutt. Check out full results from the show here.
