David DePape, the man accused of beating Paul Pelosi over the head with a hammer, appears to have made a number of online posts referencing the QAnon conspiracy theory.
DePape, 42, broke into the Pelosi home in San Francisco while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was in Washington DC. called 911 and spoke in code to a dispatcher while an intruder was inside his house Friday morning, law enforcement officials said. Paul Pelosi, who was attacked with a hammer by a man who was looking for the speaker, allegedly told the intruder that he needed to go to the restroom, where he had his phone charging, an unnamed law enforcement officer told CNN.
It has since emerged that the alleged attacked ranted about QAnon, the baseless pro-Trump conspiracy theory, in August this year. An Aug. 24 entry titled “Q,” displayed a scatological collection of memes that included photos of the deceased sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and made reference to QAnon, according to the Associated Press.

In another post the day later, the poster wrote: “You no longer have rights. Your basic human rights hinder Big Brothers ability to enslave and control you in a complete and totalizing way.”
One of the sites were the posts were published were removed by WordPress in the wake of the attack.
However, on a different site, someone writing under DePape’s name ranted about Hillary Clinton, and displayed an image showing the 2016 Democratic candidate as a zombie eating human flesh.
In September, a post was also published calling for the execution of journalists. A September 27 post said any journalists who denied Trump’s false claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election “should be dragged straight out into the street and shot.”
According to the Associated Press, there were no direct posts about Nancy Pelosi or her husband prior to the attack. However, there were a number defending former President Donald Trump and Kanye West, as well as a series of anti-Semitic attacks and Hitler references.

DePape was not previously known by the United States Capitol Police or on any watch lists, San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins said on Friday.
“This was not a random act. This was intentional. And it’s wrong,” Scott told reporters Friday night, claiming families of elected officials “don’t sign up for this — to be harmed. And it is wrong. And everybody should be disgusted about what happened this morning.”
