Patriots QB Mac Jones and his dog have matching pajamas (Christmas Eve game anti-analysis)

Christmas Eve Eve #ChristmasEveEve

Mac Jones isn’t the world’s flashiest dresser, with Matthew Judon once calling his fashion choices “a lost cause.” The quarterback can typically be spotted wearing New England Patriots gear or apparel from his sponsor, NOBULL.

But when it comes to the holiday season, Jones is willing to branch out a bit. How much? Apparently enough to support the idea of matching pajamas.

Patriots-Bengals anti-analysis (Week 16)

I’m not here to analyze the Patriots game this Saturday. That sounds like actual work Chris Mason, Mark Daniels or Matt Vautour would do (suckers). Instead, I’m here to point out 5-10 observations and general tidbits that have at least a tangential connection to Saturday’s game.

Mac Jones and his dog have matching pajamas

Jones appeared on WEEI’s “Merloni, Fauria & Mego” show this past week to hash out the usual football topics. But before letting the quarterback go, the co-hosts had one last question: What are Jones’ thoughts on matching pajamas around the holidays?

“I think it’s cool,” Jones said.

The second-year quarterback said that his family has done matching pajamas in the past. It wasn’t his idea, but he just went with the flow of things.

“Everyone’s different. I think it’s fun. Why not?” Jones said.

What about nowadays? Jones was spotted in an Instagram photo last year wearing a set of matching pajamas with his girlfriend, Sophie Scott.

Does Jones have a matching set with his dog, Rose?

“Yes,” the quarterback confirmed.

The matching PJs haven’t made it to Jones or Scott’s social media channels this year. But there are still a couple of days until Christmas, so keep an eye out.

Do Patriots have a good breakfast spread? ‘Damn right, Bill Belichick says

MassLive’s Chris Mason asked Belichick on Wednesday about what he’d seen from the team so far that week — since the Patriots had yet to hold a practice.

Belichick got into precise detail about what exactly he’d seen:

“What I’ve seen from them? We talked about the game on Monday, and we’ve moved on to Cincinnati. We’re working on Cincinnati today. They came in and ate breakfast. I saw them eat breakfast. I saw them in the meeting room. They all went to their individual meetings. Take a break to go to the bathroom and drug testing. Come back in and go to the next meeting. I mean, I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Mason’s follow-up question: Was there a good breakfast spread?

“Yeah, damn right.”

Name of the Week: Running Back Chris Evans

No, he is not the actor who plays Captain America.

But here’s the thing: Evans is just one of a few names on the Bengals roster who may throw Patriots fans through a loop.

Cincinnati also has a receiver named Stanley Morgan Jr., who is not related to former Patriots receiver Stanley Morgan.

There’s also safety Michael Thomas — who is not the New Orleans Saints receiver of the same name.

Be careful if you hear Tre Flowers’ name called during the game. He’s a cornerback for Cincinnati, not Trey Flowers the former Patriots defensive end.

However, there is Elijah Holyfield, who is the son of famous former heavyweight boxer Evander Holyfield.

The “He’s On That Team Now?” Player of the Week: TE Devin Asiasi

A third-round pick by the Patriots in 2020, Asiasi never quite panned out in New England, leading to him being let go at the end of training camp this year.

The Bengals scooped up Asiasi on waivers at the start of the season. However, he’s yet to make a major impact on offense.

Oddly enough, Asiasi has more kick returns (1) this season than he does receptions (0) this season with Cincinnati. He’s been targeted twice in 11 games played this year.

Charities of the Week: Holiday Season Edition

Each week this season, the Patriots have been promoting different charity efforts to help highlight the work they do off the field. Charitable work doesn’t get enough coverage, so let’s take a sec to check-in. This week, it’s a roundup of all the holiday-related events the Patriots and player foundations are putting together:

On Tuesday, the Patriots held their 29th annual Children’s Holiday Party at Gillette Stadium. The event welcomed “more than 200 children from The Salvation Army and community centers throughout the region” as they ate pizza, played games and then got to decorate Patriots players, cheeleaders and Pat Patriot like Christmas trees. Players in attendance included Matthew Slater, Jahlani Tavai, Nick Folk and Brendan Schooler.
