Patrick Bamford has now lifted the lid on some details surrounding Jesse Marsch’s sacking at Leeds United last season.

Bamford was speaking on the ‘My Mate’s A Footballer’ podcast and shared his shock over the way in which the Leeds players were told about Marsch’s departure.

The American had become a polarising figure at Elland Road, and whilst his sacking wasn’t a surprise, the way in which it was handled certainly was.

Speaking on the podcast, Bamford said: “When Jesse Marsch got sacked us players found out about it through social media. We didn’t know!”

The presenter replied: “Oh, that’s not normal is it? What normally happens with a sacking?”

Bamford: “Normally there is a note put into the WhatsApp group which just says the manager has been relieved of his duties, report at this time but it’s not like it’s a shock because sometimes the way it’s going, you know it’s going that way.

“So that message comes in and sometimes managers come in to say bye and sometimes that’s it, they’re gone.”

Of course, given the chaos that surrounded Leeds last season, some fans may not be surprised.

Thankfully, Leeds are now proving a much calmer side under the stewardship of Daniel Farke.

Sat third in the Championship table, worries over Patrick Bamford’s fitness or Jesse March’s management are a thing of the past for Leeds.

Bamford is still an important member of Farke’s squad, but the side no longer rely on the 30-year-old as their sole source of goals.

In fact, Bamford is now being afforded the kind of patience he’s probably needed with his fitness for years.

And there’s no doubt that if he does get fully fit, the striker could be a huge boost as the fixture schedule ramps up over the festive period.

One player who has now stated his regret over leaving Leeds in the past is Aaron Lennon.

The former winger has now shared his devastation at having to be sold amid difficult financial circumstances in the past.
