Leeds United fans and Fantasy Premier League managers will be sweating on the fitness of Patrick Bamford after the striker limped off with injury against former club Chelsea.
The 27-year-old looked in some pain and had to be treated by team physios after landing awkwardly following an aerial duel with Antonio Rudiger.
“It could be a dead leg, or gluteus maximus, or whatever we call it these days,” Steve McManaman said on commentary for BT Sport.
“It’s really unfortunate for him. Let’s hope he can run it off.”
Bamford couldn’t run it off however and had to be replaced by Rodrigo just after the half an hour mark in the Premier League clash at Elland Road.
“Well this game of all games, this opposition of all opposition, has to be the day Patrick Bamford picks up an injury,” commentator Darren Fletcher added.
“He needs to go off, which is so disappointing for him. He was so keen to impress today.”
McManaman added: “It’s very unfortunate. Hopefully it won’t keep him out for long. That time of injury. He should be back soon enough.”
Leeds will certainly be hoping so ahead of their fixture against Fulham on Friday.
Bamford has been one of the best value players in Fantasy Premier League this season.
The Leeds striker has scored 145 points, second behind only Tottenham’s Harry Kane as the top-scoring FPL forward, despite a current price of just £6.8m
