Pascal Siakam returns to help Raptors take down Cavs

Pascal Siakam had 18 points, 11 rebounds and five assists in his return from injury and the Toronto Raptors defeated the visiting Cleveland Cavaliers 100-88 Monday night.

Siakam had missed the previous 10 games with an adductor strain and helped the Raptors to complete a three-game homestand with two wins.

O.G. Anunoby scored 20 points for the Raptors, who defeated the Cavaliers for the second time this season.

Gary Trent Jr. added 14 points for Toronto, Fred VanVleet scored 13, Scottie Barnes, who missed the two previous games with a sprained knee, had 11 and Thaddeus Young scored 10.

Evan Mobley had 18 points and 15 rebounds for the Cavaliers, who completed a three-game road trip with a 1-2 record. Darius Garland added 18 points and 10 assists and Donovan Mitchell was held to eight points.

Toronto took a 13-point lead into the fourth quarter.

The lead reached 17 on Anunoby’s 3-pointer with 10:59 left in the fourth. Toronto led 88-70 on Chris Boucher’s reverse layup with 8:19 remaining, and Trent’s 3-pointer with 5:55 to go stretched the margin to 20.

Toronto led 26-24 after one quarter.

VanVleet’s layup capped a 12-3 Toronto surge with 1:55 to play in the second quarter that bumped the lead to nine points. Toronto led 52-43 at halftime.

Siakam led all first-half scorers with 17 points and grabbed six rebounds. Mobley followed with 11 points to go along with nine rebounds.

The Raptors scored the first five points of the third quarter to lead by 14.

The lead reached 16 on Anunoby’s 18-footer with 6:56 to play in the third quarter. Dean Wade’s layup with 4:52 to play completed a 6-0 Cleveland rally to cut the lead to nine. The Raptors later rifled off 10 straight points to take an 18-point lead with 1:03 remaining.

Cleveland was without Jarrett Allen (back), Lamar Stevens (illness) and Kevin Love (thumb).

Precious Achiuwa (ankle) and Otis Porter Jr. (toe) did not play for Toronto.
