Panic! At the Disco is breaking up, Brendon Urie announces: ‘Sometimes a journey must end’

Panic! At the Disco is closing its musical chapter.

The band’s frontman Brendon Urie announced Tuesday the band would “be no more” after performing in Europe and the U.K. in February and March.

“Sometimes a journey must end for a new one to begin,” Urie wrote adding that he will soon be a father as he and his wife Sarah are expecting. “I look forward to this next adventure. That said, I am going to bring this chapter of my life to an end and put my focus and energy on my family, and with that Panic! At The Disco will be no more.”

Here’s what to know about the end of the band established in 2004 that  created hit songs including “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” and “Nine in the Afternoon.”

Urie announced Tuesday that Panic! At the Disco would no longer perform or make music after its upcoming tour in a Tuesday Instagram post.

“Thank you all for your immense support over the years. I’ve sat here trying to come up with the perfect way to say this and I truly can’t put into words how much it has meant to us,” Urie wrote. “Whether you’ve been here since the beginning or are just finding us, it has been a pleasure to not only share the stage with so many talented people but also share our time with you.”

Urie was the last of the founding members, which included Ryan Ross, Spencer Smith and Brent Wilson, who was still performing under the band’s name.

When will Panic! At the Disco perform for the last time?

Urie’s announcement revealed the band will perform one more time in Europe for its Viva Las Vengeance tour. The last show will be on March 10 in Manchester, England, which is currently sold out.

The final tour begins Feb. 20 in Australia and features singer Fletcher as a special guest.

“I am looking forward to seeing everyone in Europe and the UK for one last run together,” Urie wrote.

Panic! At the Disco has collected many awards throughout its 19-year span for its alternative rock sound. The band received awards from the American Music Awards, The Billboard Music Awards and won MTV’s video of the year at the 2006 VMAs for “I Write Sins.”
