The 2023 World Baseball Classic is now underway, and we’ve already seen what may be the catch of the tournament.
Panama’s squad was up 5-0 on Chinese Tapei on Wednesday when a long fly ball was hit to the warning track. Panama outfield Luis Castillo ran a loooong way, then leaped and caught it … and then somehow held on while ramming into his teammate, center fielder Jose Ramos.
It was a wild moment, and what’s even wilder is that Castillo stayed in the game, which is amazing. You’v got to see this catch and the fact that Ramos thought the ball had gotten away before he realize it was in Castillo’s glove.
Incredible.
