Any film buff worth their salt knows that Paddington 2 is a perfect movie, which was cruelly snubbed by the Oscars and Golden Globes.
Now, it has gained the acclaim that it deserves – it has been crowned as the MOST perfect movie.
Paddington 2 has usurped Citizen Kane as the top-rated film on Rotten Tomatoes, after a negative review for the Orson Welles classic from 1941 was discovered which caused Citizen Kane to drop from 100% fresh to 99%.
Citizen Kane had long been the top-rated movie on Rotten Tomatoes with a perfect score on the Tomatometer, but an 80-year-old review from Mae Tinee from the Chicago Tribune, titled ‘Citizen Kane Fails to Impress Critic as Greatest Ever Filmed’, was discovered recently and has dented its score.
There are around 400 films listed 100% Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, including The Terminator, The Last Picture Show, 12 Angry Men and Toy Story, but 2017’s family comedy Paddington 2 ranks at the top, with the most consecutive Fresh reviews without a single Rotten write up.

We hope Paddington cracks open the special marmalade for the occasion.
Leave No Trace, the 2018 drama, is at number two with 237 reviews, while Toy Story 2 (169), Man On Wire (158) and Honeyland (123) complete the top five.
For Paddington stans, the film’s new title comes as no surprise.
The sequel received universal acclaim upon its release in 2017 and received three Baftas nominations including best British film.
Paddington 2 sees everyone’s favourite bear from Peru, voiced by Ben Whishaw, trying to find the perfect birthday gift for Aunt Lucy.
However, after the gift is stolen and he is arrested and imprisoned for its theft, Paddington’s family must prove his innocence.

The film, directed by Paul King, featured a host of British and Irish talent including Whishaw, Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Brendan Gleeson, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent and Peter Capaldi, and featured Hugh Grant in a brilliant turn as a former stage star.
The 60-year-old thinks it’s a shame that he was initially derided for the casting, proclaiming Paddington 2 as the best film he’s ever starred in.
More: Hugh Grant
He told Vanity Fair: ‘‘I was presenting I think at the Golden Globes, and they do that thing when you walk out, and they say, “From the forthcoming Paddington 2, Hugh Grant.” And someone showed me Twitter afterwards, and it was…people were full of derision.
‘“Christ, has it come to that. Poor old Hugh. Paddington 2. Sequel to a kids film.” It’s particularly annoying in the case of Paddington 2, because I genuinely believe it may be the best film I’ve ever been in.’

Agreed.
We may be in for more movie magic, too, as development began on a third sequel in February this year.
Just, please no more jail for Paddington. We have no tears left.
