Packers vs. Rams: Live updates, scoring plays, highlights

The Green Bay Packers (5-8) are hosting the defending champion Los Angeles Rams (4-9) on “Monday Night Football” to finish up the Week 15 schedule.

The Packers’ opening drive of the game led to the first points. A 12-play, 52-yard drive ended in a third-down sack on 3rd-and-goal, but the Packers still got three points out of Mason Crosby’s field goal. Rookie Romeo Doubs caught a pair of passes, including an 11-yarder on third down, and Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon combined for 34 rushing yards. Jalen Ramsey got away with some contact on Christian Watson in the end zone on 2nd-and-goal, and Leonard Floyd ended the drive one play later with a sack.

The Rams turned a Taylor Rupp interception of Aaron Rodgers into a field goal drive and a tie game. Cam Akers gained 23 yards on three touches and drew a 15-yard penalty on Rudy Ford to get the Rams moving. The Packers eventually got a tackle for loss by veteran safety Adrian Amos to help hold the Rams to a field goal try from inside the 20-yard line.

The Packers wasted no time re-taking the lead, driving 74 yards in 11 plays and over six minutes of game clock to score the game’s first touchdown. The 247-pound A.J. Dillon powered in from eight yards out, scoring his third touchdown in as many games and giving the Packers a 10-3 advantage in the second quarter. Aaron Rodgers completed three straight passes for 43 yards, and Dillon gained 40 total yards, including 22 on the ground.

The Rams converted 3rd-and-4 with a 10-yard completion to Tutu Atwell and 3rd-and-13 with a 15-yard completion to Van Jefferson to set up Gay’s long field goal attempt with 46 seconds to go in the first half. After getting to the 37-yard line, Baker Mayfield threw three straight incompletions. The Rams are averaging only 3.5 yards per play but have managed to put together two scoring drives. The Packers get the ball coming out of halftime.

The Packers took the opening kickoff of the second half and marched down the field in seven minutes to expand the lead to 17-6. Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson and A.J. Dillon both moved the sticks with first-down catches, and Dillon took advantage of a penalty on 3rd-and-goal with a 1-yard touchdown plunge. Aaron Rodgers was 6-for-6 on the drive, and the Rams committed two penalties resulting in first downs.

A poor punt and a 15-yard facemask penalty set up the Packers at the 35-yard line, and it didn’t take long for Green Bay to find the end zone. Marcedes Lewis caught a 14-yard pass, and Christian Watson’s block out in front of an Aaron Jones catch produced a touchdown play. The Packers are dominating.

The Rams aren’t going down without a fight. Their response to the Packers’ latest score took all of two minutes and was aided by runs of 19 yards and 18 yards by Cam Akers and a 15-yard penalty on Jaire Alexander. The 70-yard drive ended with Tyler Higbee catching a touchdown on third down. Matt Gay missed the extra point, making it a 12-point game late in the third quarter.
