Ozuna & Luis Fonsi Perform ‘Taki Taki’ & ‘Despacito’ at ‘Celebrating America’ Special
Taki #Taki
Puerto Rican stars Ozuna and Luis Fonsi took the (virtual) stage to perform “Taki Taki” and “Despacito” at the Celebrating America primetime special Wednesday night (Jan. 20).
The pair’s set was part of DJ Cassidy’s “Pass the Mic: Inaugural Edition” series, which he kicked off earlier Wednesday during the inauguration parade featuring Earth, Wind & Fire, Nile Rogers, and Kathy Sledge.
Ozuna kicked off the DJ’s set with an exuberant performance of his hit song “Taki Taki” and then passed the mic to compatriot Fonsi, who, as expected, performed his anthemic smash hit “Despacito.”
Other artists that performed at the 90-minute inauguration special included Demi Lovato, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Springsteen and Jon Bon Jovi.
Tom Hanks hosted the primetime special that wrapped up President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris’ inauguration.
“This is a great nation. We’re good people,” President Biden said during the virtual event. “America built on decency and dignity, of love and healing, of possibilities. This is the story that inspires us and guides us. I will give my all to you.”
After President Biden was sworn in as the 46th president of the United States, the Puerto Rican singer posted on social media “cheers to a new beginning.”
The caption accompanied photos of him and the president at a Hispanic Heritage Month campaign event in Orlando last year and a photo of him and former President Barack Obama at a rally right before election day.
