Liverpool could find one of the players currently in their squad replacing Ibrahima Konate at RB Leipzig next season, according to a report.
Konate, 21, has been strongly linked with a summer switch to Anfield, and is understood to be one of the centre-back options that Jurgen Klopp is considering in the next transfer window.
RB Leipzig chief executive Oliver Mintzlaf declared last week that Konate’s current employers “don’t sit in the driver’s seat” regarding the player’s future as he admitted that there was an exit clause.
The Daily Mail claim that Liverpool are close to completing the £40million signing of Konate.

And their article adds that Leipzig are lining up Ozan Kabak – a Reds loan signing from Schalke on the final day of the winter window – as a potential replacement, with a domino effect that may be helpful for Liverpool.
The Mail claim that Klopp’s side are unlikely to take up their option to sign Turkish international Kabak in an £18million permanent deal after a difficult few months on Merseyside.
The 21-year-old has played 13 times for Liverpool but has been ruled out of the remainder of this season due to a muscle injury.

Speaking after the win at West Brom at the weekend, Klopp gave an update on Kabak’s fitness.
“Ozan, no,” said the boss when asked if Kabak could feature in either of the last two games, at Burnley tomorrow or at home to Crystal Palace four days later.
“From the long-term injured, and unfortunately Ozan is a long-term, nobody is coming back I don’t think.”
