Oust Boris Johnson in confidence vote, Tory MSPs urge Douglas Ross

Boris #Boris

Scottish Conservative MSPs are pressing their party leader to vote to remove Boris Johnson from Downing Street.

The Holyrood Tories are at odds with Alister Jack, the Scottish secretary, who said that he would support the prime minister in today’s confidence vote.

The rest of the Scottish Tories at Westminster are yet to reveal which way they will vote.

A statement is expected from Douglas Ross, the party leader north of the border, around the time that Johnson addresses the 1922 Committee of backbench Conservative MPs.

Ross was among the most senior Tories to call for Johnson’s resignation at the turn of the year when reports of parties in Downing Street during lockdown surfaced. He then U-turned, citing the Russian invasion of Ukraine
