Ottawa County medication take back event set for Saturday

OTTAWA COUNTY — A handful of community organizations are partnering to host a medication take back event in Ottawa County this weekend.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 30, at Spectrum Health Zeeland Community Hospital. It will be conducted in a drive-thru fashion.

Saturday’s event is a collaborative effort from Community Mental Health of Ottawa County, SHZCH, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office and Michigan OPEN.
Anyone with unused or expired medications, sharps and vapes are encouraged to bring them to SHZCH for proper disposal. Medication lock boxes and Narcan training and distribution will also be offered for those interested.
“Proper disposal of medications, sharps and vapes is not only good for the environment, but it provides a safe method to remove these items from your home,” Community Mental Health stated in a release.
