Oriol Romeu has produced a work of pure beauty

Romeu #Romeu

The first 45 minutes of Leeds v Southampton have been full of event.

There’s been a penalty awarded and then overturned via the interference of the pitchside monitor, a goal disallowed because the referee didn’t blow the whistle in time and then there was one of the most beautiful sights ever to grace a football pitch.

Raphinha had broken away for the hosts directly from a Saints’ corner and was bearing down on goal with all the time in the world.

The Brazilian was surely about to break the deadlock – but then Oriol Romeu stepped in, or slid in should we say.

The Spanish midfielder pulled off a thumping last-gasp tackle to deny Leeds a goal.

You can keep your volleys and tiki-taka, this is the most aesthetically pleasing thing in football.
