OSHKOSH (WLUK) — A local historic theater is getting into the spirit of the season.

The Grand Opera House in Oshkosh is celebrating 31 days of fright this October.

Experiences include the infamous Haunted Happenings: Ghost Tours, highlighting the theater’s 140-year history.

“We are the oldest, operating theater in Wisconsin… We’re older than Coca-Cola, older than the Eiffel Tower, the Washington Monument was only halfway completed by the time that we were here and… we’re gonna be here for many more years and it’s a great place to see a show,” said David Lange/Director of Operations at The Grand Oshkosh.

The Spirits of the Grand offers interactive opportunities and a new show this year, combining magic effects with storytelling to create a unique take on live theater.

Angela Ferlo, the Creator and Director of the show, describes what she calls a spine-tingling experience.

“So, the Spirits of The Grand tours are kind of an immersive tour where you get to go places you normally wouldn’t get to go in the theater. You’re guided by some eccentric characters and, of course, along the way you get to meet these Spirits of The Grand,” added Ferlo.

During the exploration, visitors can take a trip into the past and peek into the realm of paranormal activity.

Those interested can also visit The Grand Lounge to learn how to make five different spooky craft cocktails.

“It’s really just about getting people in here and getting them to enjoy themselves in the varying different ways that you can celebrate Halloween here,” said Ferlo.
