Ons Jabeur pukes while holding match point, boots and rallies to become first Arab woman to make the fourth round at Wimbledon
Ons Jabeur #OnsJabeur
History was made at Wimbledon on Friday, where 24th-ranked women’s player in the world Ons Jabeur came back from a set down to defeat former Wimbledon champ Garbine Muguruza, becoming the first ever Arab woman to make the second week at the venerated slam. The victory followed a dominant second-round victory against Venus Williams on Wednesday and established Jabeur as a legitimate contender in the women’s draw this year.
But the Tunisian also made history in a more ignominious (and perhaps memorable) fashion, becoming the first known woman to puke from nerves while holding match point on Centre Court to then go on and win, according the Elias Sports Bureau (just kidding, they don’t track puking as far as we know).
All in all, an inspiring day for tennis, for women, and for those with nervous stomachs. Jabeur’s win is proof that you can accomplish anything if you set your mind to it. Just always remember to boot before you rally.
