Ollie Gordon’s announcement on his future coming on ‘my own time’

STILLWATER — The announcement will come, just on Ollie Gordon’s time.

During a Thursday media session ahead of Oklahoma State’s Dec. 27 bowl game against Texas A&M, Gordon — the Cowboys’ star sophomore running back — opted against making a definitive statement on his future.

“I just want to make my own announcement on my own time,” he explained.

Gordon wouldn’t divulge any further details, such as when an announcement could come or how close he was to making a decision. Speculation on social media has run rampant about Gordon’s decision, including a cryptic post by OSU’s NIL collective, Pokes With A Purpose, that seemed to allude to Gordon returning for another season.

Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, won the Doak Walker Award and collected numerous All-American honors.

Gordon was named a unanimous All-American on Thursday morning, the first for the program since Chuba Hubbard earned the distinction in 2019.

“It’s been a great experience, just opening up Instagram, seeing Cowboy football post that stuff,” Gordon said. “I couldn’t do it without my line or my teammates.”

Since the Big 12 Conference Championship Game, Gordon won the Doak Walker Award, given to the nation’s top running back, and pulling in nearly a dozen All-American honors.
