Shortly after the big reveal, Olivia also went on Instagram live to talk about the album.
“Lots of the fan favorites didn’t make the album and I’m just so appreciative that you guys even listened to the stuff on Instagram that I’ve posted,” she said. “I think you’re really gonna love the ones that are on the record. I worked really hard to write them and produce them in a really unique way. I actually just finished a week or two ago.”
The album’s title fits in with the placeholder title *O*R that was previously announced, which Olivia said was a big coincidence.
“I actually love Sour because, well, first of all, there are many different meanings to Sour and why I love the word sour and feel like it’s representative of the album. But, also, an added perk was that it has OR in it. So in all of the graphics of Sour, we always try to make the O and the R bolder than the rest of the word. I chose the word before I actually looked at it and was like, ‘Oh my gosh, my initals are in it.”
Olivia also noted that she tried to write a song named Sour, but couldn’t and that most of her songs were written when she was around 17-years-old. Check out the rest of her live below:
