Ohio State quarterback Devin Brown exited during the first half of Friday’s Cotton Bowl matchup with Missouri due to an apparent ankle injury.

Brown limped off the field following the Buckeyes’ third offensive drive. The sophomore attempted to play through the injury but exited after taking a sack from his blindside in the second quarter.

Freshman Lincoln Kienholz replaced Brown for the remainder of the half. He completed four of five pass attempts in limited action.

Brown left the game after completing four of six pass attempts for 20 yards and led the Buckeyes to their only points in the first half.

He became the only Ohio State passer to make their first career start in a bowl game Friday. Brown was elevated to the starting role after Kyle McCord entered the transfer portal following the regular season.

Brown passed for 197 yards and accounted for three total touchdowns during the regular season.
