Kalvin Chung, chairman of NTX, a global leader in sustainable textile innovations, called the advent of the new facility a “significant milestone” in the company’s journey toward sustainable textile production.
“By leveraging our proprietary NTX Cooltrans technology,” he said, “we’re not only addressing the critical water challenges in Bangladesh, but also pioneering a transformative approach in the textile industry that prioritizes environmental stewardship, community empowerment and responsive market innovations.”
The partnership will enhance Ananta Group’s production of a wide range of garments that include denim and casual bottoms, knitwear, intimates and activewear, tailoring and outerwear. The joint effort will support the backward integration of these product lines, bolstering Ananta along with the entire Bangladesh garment industry.
“This strategic alliance with NTX is a testament to Ananta’s unwavering commitment to sustainability and innovation,” said Sharif Zahir, Ananta Group’s managing director. “With a special focus on synthetic fabrics, we’re poised to meet the growing demands in activewear, outerwear, and intimates categories.”
“This partnership is a leap forward in our sustainability journey, reducing lead times and enabling brands to swiftly respond to market trends,” he added.
Sustainability will be key to the new facility, which will explore advanced water management aimed at achieving Zero Liquid Discharge or Closed Loop Water Management, where water can be reused for other purposes like irrigation. Energy management will also be a priority, with plans for renewable energy that includes rooftop solar.
The partnership reinforces the commitment of Ananta Group and NTX to community empowerment through their local-for-local drive. The local industry is robust and diversified, and the partnership enhances skill sets, creates high-tech jobs and strengthens the resilient economy against global market fluctuations.
“Through this venture, we’re not just investing in technology, we’re investing in people and the planet,” NTX’s Chung said. “This is the embodiment of NTX’s vision for a greener, more sustainable future and we’re thrilled to have Ananta Group by our side in this transformative initiative.”
NTX promotes sustainability in its cutting-edge textile solutions, conservation initiatives and new standards for high performance in the textile industry. Its Cooltrans technology, introduced in 2020, is a heatless, waterless color transfer process that saves 90 percent of the water used by conventional processes, 65 percent of the energy and 40 percent of the chemicals. The environmentally conscious Ananta Group is one of Bangladesh’s most innovative producers and exporters of apparel. It was founded in 1992, employs 26,000 worldwide and generates $300 million in annual global revenue.
