John Barilaro’s daughter, Domenica, has been hit with a $1000 fine after allegedly breaching the public health act.

Police allege Ms Barilaro, 20, left her home in Queanbeyan and travelled to Sydney, then through the ACT, before returning to the town in regional NSW.

The alleged breach occurred on Friday, July 9, NSW Police confirmed.

She was spoken to by officers from the Monaro district and issued a $1000 fine for failing to comply with the public health act.

“She was very helpful and apologetic,” a spokesman for NSW Police said.

The Deputy Premier has been contacted for comment.

Under the current lockdown measures, people in Greater Sydney are not allowed to travel more than 10km from their home and are prohibited from going to the regions.

People from regional NSW cannot travel to Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong or to Shellharbour unless they have a “reasonable excuse” such as getting a Covid vaccine or attending a funeral.

“If you enter these areas for any reason, stay at home rules will also apply to you for 14 days after you were last in any of these areas,” the NSW Health website states.

“This means that you will need to stay at your place of residence for 14 days, even if it is in a regional area, unless you have a reasonable excuse.”

NSW recorded a staggering spike in cases on Friday, with 97 new infections, 29 of which were infectious in the community.

“This is the number (that is) concerning,” NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said.

“That number of people being infectious in the community keeps going up. We really want to stress to everybody, please stay at home, follow the orders.

Friday’s coronavirus numbers also include 34 people whose source of infection isn’t known.

“We have a number of cases under investigation and we are seeing the emergence of unlinked cases which is a matter for concern,” NSW chief health officer Kerry Chant said.
