NRL Grand Final pre-game show falls flat. Read more to know what happened
Jimmy Barnes #JimmyBarnes
Sunday night saw the entertainment at the NRL Grand Final pre-game get off to a shaky start. Rock great Jimmy Barnes was to be the star man for the show but before he took the stage, the NRL Grand Final paid tribute to the retiring stars of the game. 21 players were retiring, and the announcer was going through the list as players stood in the stands.
Around half of the retiring players were not present at the event which made the announcer repeatedly say “they were unable to attend”. While mocking, Ryan Fitzgerald said in a Tweet that the “unable to attend tonight” tribute was beautiful.
Sheldon Riley opened the show with “everybody wants to rule the world.” Jimmy Barnes came to the rescue as the fans stood up and cheered. He made his way through stars like Donovan, Teskey, and Diesel.
