‘Nothing short of a disgrace’: Furious fans call for Everton to SACK Frank Lampard after the Toffees’ humiliating 4-1 defeat by Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup third round… as …
Lampard #Lampard
Enraged fans slammed Frank Lampard on social media after Everton’s miserable 4-1 defeat by Bournemouth on Tuesday, as a handful of supporters called for the Merseyside club to sack their manager.
Punished for rotating his squad, Lampard opted to make 11 changes to his starting line-up for Everton’s trip to the south coast, ahead of another clash with the Cherries in the Premier League this weekend.
Goals from Jamal Lowe and Junior Stanislas put Bournemouth 2-0 ahead before Toffees substitute Demarai Gray clawed one back in the second-half, only to inspire the hosts to score two more late on thanks to Emiliano Marcondes and Jaidon Anthony.
Several fans want Everton to sack Frank Lampard after the club’s 4-1 defeat by Bournemouth
Furious fans poured to social media after the match to criticise the manager, calling for Everton to axe Lampard.
One supporter insisted on Twitter: ‘Lampard out. This team is going to the Championship I swear.’
A second fan wrote: ‘I don’t know if Frank Lampard makes it to January.’
Many furious supporters took to social media during and after the match to slam their manager
A third chimed in and said: ‘Nah, sack Lampard right now and bring back (Sam) Allardyce.’
Another simply posted: ‘Everton sack Lampard.’
Whilst not explicitly calling for their boss to go, several disgruntled fans slammed the manager’s tactics during the match, particularly his decision to make wholesale changes ahead of the Carabao Cup fixture.
Everton, who seem unlikely to mount a challenge for Europe this season, have now already been eliminated from one of two chances at silverware this campaign.
Fans were especially frustrated by Lampard’s decision to make 11 changes against the Cherries
One supporter said: ‘Frank Lampard got this all wrong. First time this season I have thought we are in trouble.’
Another wrote: ‘Pathetic from Lampard to go three at the back here. To put three centre-backs on with no game time in weeks is a disgrace.’
A third shared similar sentiments and said: ‘The team Lampard has picked here is a disgrace.’
Tom Davies had a glorious chance to level the score at 1-0 but skied his effort over the crossbar
Junior Stanislas added to Jamal Lowe’s opener to fire the hosts 2-0 ahead just after half-time
A fourth posted: ‘Hasn’t got a clue Lampard. Getting beat here by managerless Bournemouth reserves. Embarrassing and utterly f***ing pathetic.’
Lampard has an instant shot at revenge as Everton travel to the south coast once again to face Bournemouth in the Premier League, with both sides teetering above the drop zone.
The Toffees are one point and one place ahead of Tuesday’s victors in 16th, with just this weekend’s Vitality Stadium clash to go ahead of the World Cup break.
