Northern Adelaide’s underwear rocker fights for his right to party
Adelaide #Adelaide
A rock ‘n’ roll battle is playing out in Adelaide’s north as a musician fights for his right to rock against some of his neighbours’ pleas for peace and quiet.
Savas Caruso plays a weekly set on his electric guitar at the front of his Salisbury Downs home on Sunday afternoons, wearing only his underwear and sneakers.
While his supporters love his performances, others have been less enthusiastic.
One neighbour, Paul, told Radio Adelaide’s David Bevan on Friday morning that while he did not mind the noise, he had issues with the swearing in Mr Caruso’s music.
“I don’t have a problem with him playing it [the guitar], but what I do have a problem with is the F and C-bombs he continually drops,” he said.
Paul, who did not give his surname, lives about a kilometre away from Mr Caruso’s house and said he can hear the music from his backyard.
“He should be booked for indecent language,” he said.
“I don’t care about the noise … but his language is foul.”

Mr Caruso told Radio Adelaide that many of his neighbours had no problem with his performances.
“I’m only ever greeted by smiles,” he said.
“My most immediate neighbours have actually donated me all their instruments.
“In my next record, I’m going to make a few songs with the instruments.
“We have a really sort of good thing going down here.”

Mr Caruso was arrested by police on June 13 for allegedly failing to comply with an environmental protection order given to him the previous day, which directed him not to perform for 72 hours.
The 32-year-old appeared in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on June 15 and will next appear in mid-August.
