The McDonough City Council voted unanimously at its June 15 regular meeting to appoint Ken Noble as acting police chief.

According to a statement by city officials, he is a 20-year veteran of the McDonough Police Department, rising through the ranks from patrol officer to corporal, detective, sergeant, and mostly recently to major as commander of the uniform patrol division. His background prior to coming to McDonough includes a stint with the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne Division.

“Acting Chief Noble has shown tremendous leadership during his service with our police department and I am confident that our community will be even better in the future due to the compassion and commitment he displays,” said McDonough Mayor Billy Copeland.
