As we learned last month, we’ll need to wait a little bit longer to see Travis Touchdown take on a bunch of freaky superhero aliens in No More Heroes 3, but some fresh news may make the wait a bit easier. As revealed at the end of a new trailer for the third installment, the original No More Heroes and its sequel, No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, are out on the Nintendo Switch eShop today.

Goichi Suda and Grasshopper Manufacture dropped a new trailer for No More Heroes 3 in today’s new Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase followed by a now-familiar (but never unwelcome) “coming to Switch today” stinger for the first two No More Heroes games. Both titles cost $19.99 but are currently discounted 10% for launch.

Originally released for the Nintendo Wii, this is the first time that the first two No More Heroes games have been released on another platform. This surprise launch also makes the Switch the only platform where you can play the entire series including last year’s side story Travis Strikes Again.

First announced at Nintendo’s 2019 E3 Direct, we’ve still only seen bits and pieces from No More Heroes 3 in the year or so since. The most substantial look we’ve had at the game’s tone and story came with an elaborate fake-out trailer that debuted during last year’s Game Awards ceremony.

No More Heroes 3 was originally supposed to launch this year, but Suda took to Twitter in early September to announce a delay for the title. “The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have unfortunately proven to be a real body blow to our schedule,” says Suda, “causing unforeseen delays in development. Now that we have managed to get back on our feet with development, we have decided to focus on prioritizing quality, and to therefore push back the final release date.”

No More Heroes 3 is now targeting a 2021 launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
