Ninja Turtles make surprise return in upcoming retro brawler Shredder’s Revenge

Turtles in Time #TurtlesinTime

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are getting a new retro game in the vein of Turtles In Time. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge is a retro beat-’em-up game coming to PC and consoles.

The new title is a four-player co-op game in the style of Konami’s old arcade brawlers. The trailer shows off all four turtles fighting through streets with a classic 16-bit art style, set to a new version of the TMNT theme song by Faith No More’s Mike Patton. It looks like something straight out of the 90s, with side-scrolling gameplay and lots of foot clan soldiers to punch.

The game does not currently have a release date or specified platforms, but it does have a Steam listing currently. It’s expected to launch on consoles as well as PC.

The Steam page gives some details on the plot, which is sure to please longtime fans: “With Bebop and Rocksteady assaulting Channel 6 and stealing super-gnarly devices to support Krang and Shredder’s latest twisted plan, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge sees the Turtles battling across a righteous range of timeless TMNT locations. From Manhattan and Coney Island, to city rooftops and dank sewers, help the fearsome foursome trounce Foot Soldiers, Triceraton Warriors, and Rock Troops all the way to Dimension X!”

Shredder’s Revenge is developed by Tribute Games, which is known for working on retro brawler Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game. The title will be published by Dotemu, which released the standout Streets of Rage 4 in 2020.
