Columnist and author
Journalist Niki Savva has written about every Australian Prime Minister from Gough Whitlam to Scott Morrison. She was twice political correspondent with The Australian before becoming national political editor for Melbourne’s Herald-Sun, then Canberra bureau chief for The Age.
She was Peter Costello’s press secretary for six years, and was on John Howard’s staff for four. In 2010 she began writing political columns for The Australian. She is the author of several books, So Greek: Confessions of a Conservative Leftie, The Road to Ruin, the story of how Tony Abbott and Peta Credlin destroyed their own government, which was judged best non-fiction book of 2017 by ABIA, and Plots and Prayers, which charts Malcolm Turnbull’s demise and Scott Morrison’s ascension.
In March 2017, Niki received a lifetime achievement award from the Melbourne Press Club (and accepted by saying she wasn’t dead yet, and she wasn’t done yet).
