Nike Celebrates Swedish Football Club AIK Fotboll’s 130th Anniversary With Special Air Max 90
SNKRS #SNKRS
It’s been a whopping 130 years since Swedish football club AIK Fotboll was founded in 1891, so Nike is paying homage to Gnaget history with a special Air Max 90. In classic Swedish fashion, the club’s commemorative AM 90 is simple in appearance but loaded with special details that put the team — and its home city of Stockholm — front and center.
Uppers are made of black mesh that’s overlaid with black leather mudguards and midfoot pieces plus black rubberized heel badges and eyestays. This base is all classic Nike Sportswear, but if you look closer you’ll see gold “1891” hits on the lateral and medial heel and even golden motifs from the club’s crest on each tongue badge. A leather collar liner provides a premium touch, while the tongue is lined with a dash of navy blue for a nod to the team’s kits and the left shoe’s insole salute Stockholm’s sprawling metro lines with a blue stripe. Down below, the look is finalized with translucent outsoles that split a golden “CXXX” hit (130 in Roman numerals) for a finishing tip of the cap to the start of AIK’s 14th decade on the field.
Look for this AIK Fotboll-inspired Nike Air Max 90 to release via international Nike SNKRS stockists like SNKRS GB on June 4. Its MSRP is set at $130 USD.
