Nigel Farage has been given a starring role at GB News in an attempt to win back right-wing viewers who switched off after a presenter took the knee.
The former Ukip leader will present an hour-long primetime show called Farage from Monday to Thursday for the news channel. GB News is chaired by Andrew Neil but has faced technical glitches, low ratings and executive departures since launching last month.
Farage currently presents a Sunday morning show, The Political Correction, looking at developments in Westminster, but he will be given a bigger role at the channel, which promised to defend free speech and fight so-called cancel culture. The move will be seen as a shift to the right after internal frictions over the channel’s direction.
