Nicki Minaj Snubs Kanye West

Nicki Minaj has refused to clear her verse on a Kanye West song he was hoping to release on his new album.

Minaj, who on December 8 dropped her new album Pink Friday 2, addressed the drama during an Instagram Live with her fans.

The rapper appeared on the song “New Body” alongside West, who know goes by the name Ye, and Ty Dolla $ign for their collaborative album Vultures, which was released in September.

The trio had previously recorded the song to appear on Ye’s 2019 album Jesus Is King, but it was scrapped. The song addresses body shaming and plastic surgery.

Now Ye is hoping to put it on Vultures and even previewed it at a listening party for the album in Miami on Monday.

But it turns out “New Body” is unlikely to appear on Vultures because that “train has left the station,” according to Minaj.

Ye had shared a screenshot of a text message he sent the rapper to X, formerly Twitter, asking her, “may I call you about clearing new body on the new album.”

Fans then pressed Minaj about it further during her live Q&A.

“That train has left the station. No disrespect in anyway. I just put out a brand new album. Why would I put out a song that has been out for three years? Come on guys,” she told fans, who supported her decision.

“As she should someone should give kanye a taste of his own medicine,” replied one person to the video shared to X.

Another added: “She’s not wrong like wtf.”

And a third wrote: “Queen for a reason.”

Ye performed the song in Miami alongside his daughter with ex-wife Kim Kardashian, North, and Cardi B’s husband, Offset.

He also divided fans after releasing new music which sampled 1990s boy band, Backstreet Boys.

Titled “Everybody,” the song pays homage to their 1997 hit Everybody (Backstreet’s Back) and was teased in a video posted to social media.

In the 12-second video, the song plays as Ye walks out onto a balcony with a city landscape in the background. He can be seen wearing a jacket with the word “Vultures” on the back.

As for Minaj, Pink Friday 2 was her first studio album in five years and she complained the Billboard “punished her” and robbed her of a chance to hit the top of the album charts.

The album sold around 300,000 copies since it debuted, but Billboard deducted 100,000 copies due to a contest where Minaj fans—otherwise known as Barbz—had to show proof of buying four copies of the album.

“It’s at 300 but once they filter out 100K, you’ll be none the fkng wiser,” wrote Minaj on December 14 on X, in a since deleted series of posts.

“I’m being punished for: Not signing a 360; Making great music; Having great fans; And for not leaving the game so that their new Nicki’s (who signed 360 deals) can be propped up to look as tho they are a lot more successful than they rlly are.”
