CAMDEN, N.J. — The Philadelphia 76ers brought in veteran experience in the form of Patrick Beverley during the offseason. The well-traveled guard out of Arkansas brings substantial wisdom to Philadelphia to help its youngsters succeed.

Beverley has played 11 years in the NBA, three years overseas and significant time in the D League, now known as the G League. That type of experience is invaluable, and coach Nick Nurse is happy to have it.

“He really got himself in tremendous shape,” Nurse said of Beverley. “So he’s got the physical tools back to where he can back up some of that leadership. Sometimes, you still gotta go out there and still play and make plays and stuff like that. He’s done a good job of that. He’s all-in.”

Beverley continues to work on being a productive player on the floor. His work has not gone unnoticed, and the Sixers have followed his lead.

He gives them a spark when the time calls for it.

“He’s putting in a tremendous amount of work pre and post-practice,” Nurse added. “He really, really does a good job of organizing and that’s important. We need a veteran guy that can get us organized, settle down, and all those kinds of things and then he’s got a little bit on the other end, too. When we’re too settled down and get some fire into the action. He’s capable of doing that as well.”
