Paul Allen, the longtime voice of the Minnesota Vikings, appears to be getting a feature segment of his own that will eventually be televised by NFL Films.

It’s unclear what NFL Films is focusing on, but it’s pretty clear it’s specifically about Allen since the film crew made a visit to Canterbury Park, where Allen has been the track announcer in Shakopee since 1995.

“Such an honor sharing how significant [Canterbury Park] has been to my career and how deeply rooted it is my heart,” Allen tweeted. “That THE ELITE [NFL Films] flew in from New Jersey/SoCal to film is very cool and, again, honored they’d have interest in this amazing journey on which God put me.”

Allen’s voice no stranger to NFL Films, having been featured countless times in highlight reels during 20-plus years as the play-by-play announcer of the Minnesota Vikings Radio Network.

Numerous highlights featuring Allen have gone viral over the years, but the wild and whacky ways of the 2022 Vikings led to multiple moments where his fervid calls garnered the nation’s attention.

The game that will stand the test of time will be Minnesota’s crazy victory over the Buffalo Bills. It was a game that had the Vikings dead to rights until quarterback Josh Allen fumbled while trying to take a knee, with the Vikings recovering the ball in the end zone for a touchdown.

It was also the game where Justin Jefferson made the catch on 4th-and-18 to keep Minnesota breathing. Allen’s calls were the stuff of legend, mainly because of the passion of which he barked out details on the field to the wide and ranging listening audience.

In addition to being the voice of the Vikings and Canterbury, Allen has hosted a mid-morning radio show at KFAN-FM 100.3 in the Twin Cities for more than 20 years.
