Newsboy’s horseracing tips for Friday’s four meetings, including Haydock Nap

Newsboy fancies his nap, Canoodled, to win at Haydock and also hopes Level Up can score on the same card and complete his Daily Double

CANOODLED and William Buick can prove a potent combination in the Arete Foundation Handicap (3.45) at Haydock on Friday.

Buick is hurtling towards a successful defence of the jockeys’ crown he captured for the first time last year, and the title-holder clicked with Ed Walker’s mare at Newmarket last time out.

Stepping tack to this afternoon’s seven-furlong trip after three defeats at a mile in 2023, Canoodled careered away up the hill to beat Outrun The Storm by three and a half lengths.

Under the circumstances, a 7lb rise in the weights to a new British Horseracing Authority figure of 85 was to be expected, but the five-year-old is thriving – and there may yet be more to come.

It would be no surprise at all to see LEVEL UP give another good account of himself in Haydock’s Betfair Daily Tips On Betting.Betfair Handicap (2.35).

The Dave Evans-saddled sprinter has come home in front on three of his last four starts, scoring at Newbury, Yarmouth and Ffos Las this summer.

Each time, he has managed to shade the verdict by a nose, with the result that he’s just 6lb higher than when starting his winning run in Royal Berkshire in July.
