Newcastle 1-0 Manchester City player ratings: Dummett shines
Dummett #Dummett
7 Pope: Fine first half save with his feet to deny Alvarez. Actually wasn’t that busy but did everything that was asked of him.
8 Livramento: Outstanding debut. Did a brilliant job on Grealish, frustrated City. Staked his claim.
8 Lascelles: Commanding defensive display. For all City dominated possession, they had just two shots on target.
9 Dummett: Making his first appearance in 13 months, what a performance. Focus never slipped. Brilliant tackle on Grealish in the first half that even drew applause from Guardiola.
7 Targett: Tricky start but grew into the game. Briefly swapped roles with Hall.
6 Miley: Huge night for the 17-year-old but no tougher task than coming up against City. Tidy in possession but spent most of the first 45 chasing before being replaced at half-time.
6 Tonali: Struggled to get a grip in the first half. Sloppy in possession. Better after the break.
6 Hall: Did OK on debut. Good early pass to set Isak away. Swapped with Targett and went to left-back midway through first half.
6 Murphy: Protected Livramento well on the right. Missed glorious chance to open scoring in first half.
8 Joelinton: Brilliant return to the side. Added muscle and energy to midfield. Created the winner with driving run into the box and cut-back for Isak.
7 Isak: Had to feed on scraps in the first half as City dominated. Stuck at it and was in the right place at the right time to score the opener early in second half. Replaced soon after.
