‘New man’ – Wolves fans love what Fabio Silva did for Wolves against West Brom

Wolves fans have been reacting to the first-half performance of striker Fabio Silva in the Black Country derby.

The 18-year-old has been thrown in at the deep end after arriving at Molineux for a big fee in the summer. He has had to step into the boots of top scorer Raul Jimenez who suffered a fractured skull in the Premier League game against Arsenal late last year.

Wolves have felt the absence of the Mexican, with Silva yet to find the net from open play ahead of the clash against West Brom.

However, after seeing his team go behind to a Matheus Pereira early penalty, Silva leveled things up for Wolves after playing a one-two with Willy Boly and finishing past stand in West Brom goalkeeper David Button.

Wolves would go onto take the lead through Boly, but the Baggies turned the game around in the second half through goals from Semi Ajayi and another Pereira penalty.

It leaves Wolves with work to do in the closing minutes of the game.

And fans will hope that Silva will have a say. Here is what has been said about his first open-play goal for the club.

LauraHender1987 : So happy for @Silva_Fabio thoroughly deserved that goal! How chuffed must he be!! Young talent thrown in the deep end and excited to see how he progresses! Welcome to the pack!

Mrs Griffiths : Fabio Silva’s goal is so well taken. No messy finish or desperate scramble at the goal mouth, just a good, calm side foot like he’s been doing this all his life

Delighted for the lad #wwfc

Jon Dent : Have to say, I think Silva has been excellent. #wwfc

Rob James Cook : Was so obvious it wouldn’t be long until Fabio Silva got his goal from open play. He’s been getting into the right positions & has had very harsh criticism from some of our fans expecting too much too soon. No better game 2 do it in & hopefully will start scoring freely now #wwfc

Chris : Fabio Silva is new man #wwfc
