Never say never, but I am not sure when I will take up a TV show next, says Aamir Ali

Aamir Ali, who has been part of several TV shows, believes that he is not a part of any race or on a quest to earn more fame and money anymore. After cementing his position in showbiz, he enjoys the privilege to be selective. Last seen in Sarojini — Ek Nayi Pehal, which ended in 2016, he is currently on a break from the small screen and exploring other mediums. He is seen in Life Navrangi (it streams on a digital platform), which is the second edition of Navrangi Re. Talking about it, he says, “The first season, which I was a part of, was about urban sanitation and with the second the makers have covered a lot of other hygiene issues along with the problem of sanitation. The show educates the audience on leading a healthier life without being preachy.” He wants to take up projects he resonates with, instead of worrying about visibility on the screen. He shares, “At this stage, I don’t want to do shows for the sake of it. A project should either enable me to hone my craft, improve as an actor or show me in a never-seen-before avatar. This show is close to my heart because it allows me to do something for people and I am glad the makers decided to bring me on board to take the story ahead.” Is the dearth of an interesting character and concept a reason why he is staying away from television? He replies, “I have been blessed as far as television is concerned. I am what I am because of TV. I am one of those few actors, who has done eight to nine shows in the lead role. However, there is a right time for everything. Though I believe in never say never, I don’t know when I would take up a TV show. I am not sure about it. I am selecting the content I want to do. I have shot for three projects, including one film and an OTT project, and the audience will see me in a different light.” The actor admits that there is still a divide between the mediums making it difficult for a TV artiste to make a breakthrough in films and OTT. He says, “The divide is still there. TV karke web ya film karna is difficult. Though not for only this reason, I took a break from TV for a couple of years. One has to wait for that one big maker to trust you.”
