A Korean netizen and hater has apologized to K-pop boy band The Boyz member Sunwoo for spreading lies that he was a bully and he assaulted his girlfriend while he was in middle school.

The lying netizen uploaded a handwritten apology online and said that he posted the false information against Sunwoo because he hated him.

“When I was in school, I heard stories from my friend and I became prejudiced against Sunwoo and had bad feelings. I believed the stories without even considering whether they were real or fake,” he said.

He added, “I am deeply reflecting on the past five years when I hated Sunwoo, focusing my resentment on a wrong place. When I checked the facts, I found out that all the school violence and dating violence that I wrote were rumors and obvious false accusations.”

“I didn’t think of the impact that would happen by posting it. I’m really sorry for the damage to Sunwoo himself, his agency and his fans by posting inaccurate information,” the netizen added.

Last month, the netizen accused Sunwoo of dating violence, saying his girlfriend went to school with bruises on her body. He was also accused of smoking and drinking in middle school. The post was deleted afterwards.

As response, Cre.ker Entertainment, The Boyz’s agency, said, “we once again confirmed that the post that spread on online communities, portal sites and social media was clearly false.”

It said the poster admitted that his post regarding school violence and dating violence was false, apologized and promised that it will never happen again.

The agency said it has continuously collected evidence on false information sent by fans through email.

On March 26, it filed a formal complaint with authorities through its lawyer. The investigators will conduct investigation on malicious posts based on collected evidence.

“We would like to inform you that we will continue to file additional charges regarding malicious posts through our own monitoring and emails from fans, and that we will respond strongly without any leniency or agreement,” it said.
