Glenn Maxwell #GlennMaxwell

NEW DELHI: As Glenn Maxwell obliterated the record for the fastest-ever ODI World Cup century with a 40-ball ton, Netherlands bowler Bas de Leede found himself on the wrong pages of the record books as he registered the most expensive figures in the 50-over format ever.In an unwarranted record, de Leede conceded 115 runs in his 10 overs to register the worst-ever figures — in terms of runs conceded — in the history of men’s ODI cricket. The 23-year-old took a severe punishment and found himself right in the middle of the Maxwell storm at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in the death overs as he was tonked for 43 runs in his final 2 overs.Overall in his quota of 10 overs, de Leede (10-0-115-2) got hammered for 13 fours and 6 sixes and wrapped up his day with the ball with an economy of 11.50 RPO.

AUS vs NED, ICC World Cup 2023: Glenn Maxwell smashed fastest hundred in ODI World Cup

With the effort, de Leede took the record of worst bowling performance in ODIs from Australia’s Mick Lewis, who had given away 113 runs against South Africa in Johannesburg in 2006.Aussie spinner Adam Zampa now occupies the third spot on the list with figures of 0/113 vs South Africa (Centurion, 2023).Pakistan’s Wahab Riaz and Rashid Khan of Afghanistan are the other bowlers in the top 5 of the list, both giving away 110 runs against England in 2016 and 2019 respectively.Along with Maxwell’s (106) fiery ton, opener David Warner (104) too slammed his second successive hundred as Australia displayed their batting might to amass 399 for 8 against the Netherlands.
