After a sluggish start the John Smith’s Stadium, the Terriers broke the deadlock against the run of play when Matty Pearson headed home from close range after Blackburn failed to clear their lines from a corner. Midfielder Jack Rudoni added a second in the 22th minute, turning home a low cross from Watford loanee Joe Hungbo.

But Rovers hit back straight after the restart, with Joe Rankin-Costello lifting the ball over Tomas Vaclik from an acute angle after exchanging passes with Tyrhys Dolan. The visitors’ relentless pressure paid off when Ryan Hedges levelled things up in added on time after Vaclik could only parry Rankin-Costello’s header.
