Shams Charania continues to help the news cycle move and helped raised some eyebrows earlier today when he made note of the fact that the New Orleans Pelicans were fielding calls regarding Lonzo Ball and JJ Reddick. While the fit in New Orleans has been messy all year these names entering the trade market is still a big deal.
With a focus on Lonzo Ball, the market is likely to be polarizing. Ball was good last year and finally looked like the prospect that had him drafted number two overall in 2017. He posted a line of 11.8 points, 7.0 assists, 6.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game with shooting splits of .403/.375/.566. The wheels came off in the bubble and has continued into this season. Through 12 games his stats have changed to the following: 12.0 points, 4.7 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals on shooting splits of .389/.291/.583.
Ball has the worst effective field goal percentage since his rookie year this year but do not let that take away from what he could be. He is playing in an untenable situation with a coach that alluded to not being in on him before he interviewed for the job last summer. A change in scenery could be exactly what he needs and he is the type of passer who would thrive in the right situation. So where are the best fits for Lonzo Ball?
