NBA trade deadline: Kyle Lowry stays in Toronto, Drummond getting buyout

Lowry #Lowry

After it looked like a sure thing that he would be the biggest player to be traded before the NBA trade deadline, the Toronto Raptors shocked everyone by keeping point guard Kyle Lowry. The Los Angeles Lakers were one of three teams involved in trade talks that were deemed serious for Lowry before the Raptors ultimately decided not to make a deal for their franchise point guard, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

And now that the Lowry deal won’t be made, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported that the Lakers are done doing deals. During The Jump’s trade deadline special on ESPN, Brian Windhorst reported that the Raptors were asking the Lakers for young guard Talen Horton-Tucker in exchange for Lowry.

The Lakers will likely have plenty of options on the buyout market. Chief among those options will likely be Cleveland Cavaliers center Andre Drummond, who is reportedly agreeing to buyout with the Cavs.

There will be plenty of more news to come with the buyout market still materializing.
