NBA playoffs: Usher, John Calipari among celebrities at Grizzlies vs. Timberwolves Game 5

Timberwolves #Timberwolves

Game 5 between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Minnesota Timberwolves brought out more than the usual celebrities to FedExForum Tuesday

Music superstar Usher sat courtside next to Tee Morant, Ja’s father. It was almost perfect since the elder Morant has been confused for looking like the R&B singer at several games this postseason.

During a timeout break, the Grizzlies played up their near-twin status showed both on the “Look-Alike” cam on the jumbotron. FedExForum erupted in loud applause, with most noticing Usher for the first time that night.

Usher even acknowledged the resemblance postgame with a tweet. “Had to See What the Hype was about”, he said while adding emojis

Also in attendance was Kentucky men’s basketball coach John Calipari, who coached at Memphis from 2001-09. Former baseball All-Star Alex Rodriguez, who will become a co-majority owner of the Timberwolves next season, also sat courtside near the team’s bench.

Grizzlies legend Zach Randolph, who sat a few seats down from Tee Morant, and rapper Lil Boosie were also in attendance. Memphis men’s basketball coach Penny Hardawayand fashion model/entrepreneur Karlie Kloss, whose husband Joshua Kushner owns a minority stake in the Grizzlies, were also spotted.

Also in attendance were NBA commissioner Adam Silver and comedian Katt Williams.

There was also a proposal during a first-quarter timeout involving one of the team’s Grizz Girls. The woman’s boyfriend put up a puzzle that asked the question of “will you marry me?”

She said yes and the two embraced while the Grizz Girls danced around them.
