NBA fans noticed that Luka Doncic appeared to snub Paul George’s request for a jersey swap
Luka #Luka
For the second straight season, Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks saw their season come to an end by way of a first-round playoff defeat to the Los Angeles Clippers.
But in Doncic’s case, it was easy to see the respect that the Clippers players had for the third-year star. It just didn’t look like Doncic felt the same about Paul George.
Following Doncic’s 46-point, 14-assist effort in Sunday’s Game 7 loss, George met with Luka around midcourt and was ready to swap jerseys as a sign of respect for Luka. The problem for George: Luka didn’t seem all too interested in giving his jersey away.
Luka said something to George, shook his head and walked away laughing. Fans took notice to the exchange and thought that Luka was straight-up denying George’s jersey swap as some kind of “Playoff P” joke.
Luka did apparently get a jersey over to George after the game — in the locker rooms. So, in all likelihood, Doncic wasn’t trying to disrespect George. He may have already promised that particular jersey to someone else or he wanted to keep it on for the postgame interviews — who knows?
But Luka did say after the game that he got a jersey over to George.
So, there’s that.
