He’s made seven of them. – 9:43 PM Kristian Winfield @KrisplashedWhoever said the Knicks wouldn’t get to 90 points tonight overshot: They trail the Pelicans, 26-19, at the end of the first quarter.Precious Achiuwa has taken 4 shots and Donte DiVincenzo’s taken 7 threes already in the opening period. – 8:05 PM Tim Bontemps @TimBontempsAfter 1: Pelicans 26, Knicks 19Sluggish first quarter on both sides as several players are sidelined – now including Brandon Ingram with an ankle issue.Donte DiVincenzo already has taken 7 3s, and has 8 points, for NYK, while Zion Williamson and Herb Jones have 6 for NOLA. – 8:05 PM Tommy Beer @TommyBeerNBA Leaders in made 3-Pointers this season:1. Therefore, a loose ball foul should have been whistled on New York’s Donte DiVincenzo.” pic.twitter.com/kyMHZLyLRD – 11:07 PM Ian Begley @IanBegleyAsked about non-call on collision w/Ausar Thompson, Donte DiVincenzo says: “I went for the ball. I didn’t look at the play (yet). You turn the ball over, the ball’s in front of u & u go after the ball. I respect everyone’s opinion. I can’t speak on it until I look at the film.” – 10:59 PM Vincent Goodwill @VinceGoodwillOfficial James Washington was right in front of Ausar Thompson when his legs were cut from under him. “Possession” or not, that’s bad. Really bad – 9:59 PM Nate Duncan @NateDuncanNBANo idea how DiVincenzo wasn’t called for a foul on Ausar Thompson near side, which led to a steal and Hart’s game-winner. Monty Williams was aghast postgame, although Detroit’s miserable defensive rebounding was ultimately as responsible for the loss. – 9:53 PM Kristian Winfield @KrisplashedKnicks win, 113-111, on a crazy sequence of no-calls. Monty Williams is irate and for good reason. Donte DiVincenzo basically tackled someone. – 9:49 PM More on this storyline Kristian Winfield: NBA referee James Williams says Donte DiVincenzo should have been whistled for a foul on Ausar Thompson on the game’s final possession. QUESTION: Why was a foul not called when Donte DiVincenzo made contact with Ausar Thompson near halfcourt with approximately eight seconds to go in the game? WILLIAMS: Upon postgame review, we determined that Thompson gets to the ball first, and then was deprived of the opportunity to gain possession of the ball. Therefore, a loose ball foul should have been whistled on New York’s Donte DiVincenzo. QUESTION: So, if he hadn’t had possession of the ball, could a collision happen there? Would that have been a no foul then? If you had ruled that Thompson didn’t have control of the ball, would that have been a no foul? WILLIAMS: If the ball is loose, players on both teams have equal opportunity to it. It becomes a matter of who gets there first. -via Twitter @Krisplashed / February 27, 2024 Fred Katz: Final: Knicks 113, Pistons 111.
